Security in new ways: Heilbronn relies on weapons ban zone!

The weapon ban zone in Heilbronn ensures heated debates, but citizens feel safer. Since June 2024, the area around the main train station has been a prohibition zone for weapons and knives. A survey by the city shows that three quarters of the participants are for the continuation of this regulation. Almost all respondents want an expansion of the zone, which now also includes the city center. Here between 2 p.m. and 6 a.m., no weapons or knives with a blade length over four centimeters may be carried. Violations can be punished with high fines of up to 10,000 euros.

The police draw a positive conclusion: in the first weeks of the expanded regulation, numerous weapons and dangerous objects were ensured, including fist knives and pepper spray. According to a police spokesman, the ban zone significantly increases the scope for action and contributes to safety in the area. Nevertheless, there are also critical voices on the effectiveness of the measure.
