Danger for German soldiers: UN blue helmets in Lebanon under fire!
The Bundeswehr sees an increased danger to its soldiers due to multiple attacks on UN blue helmets in the South Libanon. A spokesman for the operational command confirmed the risk situation and reported that around 40 German soldiers are in the UN headquarters in Nakura and are well. In the past few days, the blue helmets have been under fire, with some of which Israeli troops being called attackers. On Sunday, Israeli tanks broke through the main gate of a UN post.
The Israeli government askedPresident Joe Biden to stop attacks on the peace troops. The UN Security Council was concerned: "Attacks on peace troops violate international law," warned a UN spokesman. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked the UN observer mission from the combat zone. The German federal government sharply criticized the shelling of the UN force and demanded a clarification of the circumstances.
