Honey seminar in the heart of Eickel: A meeting of the beekeepers

Eickel became the scene of the sweetest seminar in the city! On September 7 and 8, 2024, beekeepers from the region gathered in the citizens' hall to explore the secrets of honey production. The excitement was noticeable when the expert knowledge of the precious food was conveyed.

A look behind the scenes of the honey harvest

The talented lecturer and honey expert Elke Smit led the participants through the fascinating world of honey. "Did you know that the bees have to visit more than 100,000 flowers to produce just a kilogram of honey?" She revealed with enthusiasm. In addition to exciting facts, the practical application was also on the program: the beekeepers learned how to optimally harvest and process their honey.

But the seminar was more than just theory! The prospective beekeepers were then put through their paces. Only the best were allowed to fill their honey in the coveted beekeeping glasses of the German beekeeping association. The excitement among the participants was great, because only those who passed the exam could actually market their honey - a real knighthood in the beekeeping trade!

Successful beekeepers in the jury!

Among the successful participants, four beekeepers from the Herne beekeeping association, who proudly received their certificates, also made it. Another sign that the region not only has good acquaintances from the honey, but also trains excellent beekeepers.

This seminar is another step to raise awareness of the sweet way of life of the honey and to put the value of this noble tradition in the foreground. The knowledge of the honey harvest is not only shared among the participants, but also ensures a growing interest in beekeeping in the entire region.
