Thunderstormal arm in North Hesse: Heat wave precedes the storm front
A surprising change in weather awaits the Kassel and North Hesse region. After a continued heat wave, in which the temperatures regularly exceed the 30-degree mark, deep Xania now ensures uncomfortable conditions. In the coming days, the situation could change significantly, with violent thunderstorms and heavy rain.
The German Weather Service (DWD) has already given several warnings. In the Werra-Meißner-Kreis and in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, warning is warned of strong thunderstorms, which should stop until at least 5.45 p.m. In the city and in the district of Kassel, the DWD also warned of thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusts of wind, which makes residents on alert.
flooding and gusts of wind predicted
in North Hesse, especially in the Waldeck-Frankenberg and Marburg-Biedenkopf districts, up to 25 liters of precipitation is expected per hour, according to the DWD. This could lead to rapid flooding of roads and underpasses and harbors the risk of aquaplaning for drivers. In addition, lightning strikes and occasionally storm gusts are not excluded, which continues to complicate the weather situation.
The first alarm report came on Wednesday morning: strong thunderstorms were already on the move in parts of Hesse, with special warnings for the regions south of the Main and in Westhessen. Frankfurt could also be affected by these storms, while Kassel was not yet explicitly in the danger zone. However, meteorologist Dominik Jung von Wetter.net warns that the situation could change quickly.
After the midsummer temperatures, Thursday will probably show a similar dynamic, even if the thunderstorms pull off in the afternoon. Temperatures between 25 and 31 degrees are predicted, while the nights remain pleasantly warm and reach values between 13 and 17 degrees.
Future view of changeable weather
Although Wednesday and Thursday could be characterized by rain and thunderstorms in many areas, the end of the heat wave does not seem to be completely reached. Other hot days will be expected next weekend, in which the 30-degree mark could be exceeded again. However, this brings a certain uncertainty for outdoor pool lovers, since rain shower or thunderstorms are always possible.
The small recovery phases between the thunderstorms already indicate a turn. Meteorologists expect a significant cooling for the coming week, with temperatures that are expected to commute between 20 and 25 degrees. The heat that has previously shaped the region could gradually belong to the past.
The upcoming weather conditions require particularly high attention and caution from the residents. Whether for commuters, outdoor pool visitors or athletes, the location remains tense, and everyone should prepare for the changing conditions. The weather in North Hesse remains unpredictable and requires a corresponding preparation from each individual.
