Overview of the hiking opportunities in the monastery triangle
Overall, the entire hiking route in the monastery triangle comprises about 90 kilometers and extends over several stages with a variety of places such as Rehna, Breesen, Kneese, Zarrentin and Ratzeburg. The route can be mastered in a period of at least five days, whereby each stage should be around 20 kilometers long. The terrain is mostly slightly hilly and the hike is possible all year round, with May and the first half of November being particularly recommended. The hiking trails are consistently signposted by the "Nonnenweg", "Mönch-Ernestus-Weg" and "Bischofsweg". Outside of Rehna, Zarrentin and Ratzeburg, there are only limited gastronomic facilities, which is why hikers should take sufficient provisions with them. There are also some hiking -friendly accommodations and campsites available in the region. Local taxi or bus companies can be used for transfers to daily stages, as on the page Mecklenburg-Schwerin described.
