Change of office with the Göttingen police: Rainer Nolte is retiring

From May 1, 2023, the Göttingen police inspection is under new management. The senior police director Rainer Nolte will retire after 43 years of service in the Lower Saxony police and for five years at the head of the Göttingen police inspection. Nolte, who was born in Eichsfeld in 1963, has an impressive career and worked as a lecturer at the Lower Saxony Police Academy for 20 years. His expertise was particularly in traffic and traffic law.

Marco Hansmann will follow Rainer Nolte as the new police director. Hansmann, who has been a member of the Lower Saxony police since 1993, began his career in the riot police and worked in the operational and patrol service. He completed a degree in the higher service in 2012 and was then headed by the Hameln-Pyrmont/Holzminden police inspection. After a station in the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport, Hansmann was head of the staff department in the Göttingen police department.

The President of the Göttingen police department, Tanja Wulff-Bruhn, paid tribute to Rainer Noltes and wished him all the best for the future. She also expressed confidence in Marco Hansmann's skills to successfully lead the Göttingen police inspection.

The Göttingen police inspection is responsible for the district of Göttingen, by Hann. Münden to the Harz, and comprises around 650 enforcement officers and almost 100 employees who are responsible for the safety of more than 300,000 citizens.
