Discover the secrets of the Hutwald: Excursion in the Solling Nature Park!
In the Solling-Vogler nature park, the first excursion of the year begins on Sunday, May 4th under the title "Wild Horses and Ur (IGE) cattle". The event is organized by the Solling-Vogler nature park and takes around three hours. The leadership is led by the forest teacher Christine Helms and addresses the historical forest use from the Middle Ages to today's natural landscape care.
Special attention is paid to the Exmoor ponies and the Auerochsen, which have been maintaining the open forest landscape for 25 years. The participants have the opportunity to experience animal encounters, including the Exmoor pony mare Vivian with their foal Vita. The meeting point for the excursion is the parking lot below the Nienover Castle on the watermill between Amelith and Polier (L 551), where there is also signage to the "Hutwald project".Important information about the excursion

The Hutewald in the nature park is also an important project by the Lower Saxony State Forestry, which has existed since 2000. The aim of the project is to promote nature conservation and the preservation of rare animal and plant species through gentle area management. By 2014, the project area was expanded by 43 hectares to a total of 223 hectares to develop a half-open hat landscape that benefits numerous animal and plant species.
In the Hutewald, around 30 rear cattle and 30 Exmoor ponies live to maintain the old Hutenwald stocks. Visitors can learn more about historical forest use on a around 3.4 km long circular route, which is equipped with information facilities and experience the diverse flora and fauna.
