New duo course for senior accompaniment starts in Holzminden
The district college Holzminden starts a new qualification course called "Duo - Senior accompaniment", which aims to convey volunteers the necessary skills to support older people in their everyday life. The course begins on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and is aimed at everyone who enjoys spending time with seniors and getting involved socially. This initiative is carried out in cooperation with the Lower Saxony senior and care center of the Holzminden district.
As part of the Duo program, the volunteer senior attendants in their new roles are prepared to listen to older people, have talks and offer joint activities. The aim is to increase the quality of life of the seniors and to help them live independently and self -determined as long as possible. In an increasingly older society, it is crucial that older people receive the necessary support to preserve their independence.
content and structure of the course
The course, which is funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Equality, comprises a total of 30 lessons theory and 20 hours of internship. The participants complete the course with a certificate that documents their newly acquired knowledge and skills. The lessons take place at regular intervals: every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on two Saturdays, which adds an additional practical component to the 7 evenings.
The course is designed in such a way that it offers a mixture of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. This ensures that the participants not only learn the basics of senior accompaniment, but can also develop a feel for the needs of the elderly. Through the hospital, the course participants gave the opportunity to apply their skills in the real world and to learn directly from experienced supervisors.
Registrations for the course are simple and can be made directly by email to the address info@kvhs-holzminden.de or directly via the homepage of the district high school, www.kvhs-holzminden.de. For interested parties who have questions or concerns, Silvia Kieven and Elke will be happy to provide wishes from the district's senior citizens' and care center on 05531/707-326
In a time when society is getting older and many seniors often feel lonely, a course like this is more important than ever. Volunteers play a central role in promoting social contact and the well -being of older people. With the duo program, the KVHS makes a valuable contribution to supporting and integrating the seniors in the community.
