Political earthquake: new majorities in the velvet council shake Eschershausen!
In the velvet community of Eschershausen-Stadtoldendorf, there are significant political changes. On February 23, 2025, a new election of the mayor will take place, parallel to the Bundestag election. This was announced by the new political group in the velvet community council, which formed from the SPD, FDP and Bündnis 90/Die Greens. This new coalition formed on February 3, 2025 and brings a new majority to the council with 17 members, such as tah.de reported.
So far, the CDU and UWG formed the majority group in the Council. Silke Böker (SPD) will present the reasons for the merger in a meeting on February 12, 2025 at 5 p.m. in the Arholzen village community center. In view of the new majority relationships, a change at the council chair, which is currently held by Silke Hage (CDU), will also take place. The realignment could also have an impact on the occupation of the deputy mayoral posts. Helmut Affelt (Mayor of Stadtoldendorf) plays a central role as spokesman for the previous majority (CDU/UWG).constituent meeting of the Council
The constituent meeting of the newly elected council of the Samtgemeinde took place in the auditorium of the elementary school in Deensen. Despite an extensive agenda, the session took less than 90 minutes. Helmut Affelt (CDU) was elected here with 27 votes in favor, 3 no votes and 1 abstention as the new chairman of the council. His deputies are Hubertus Berhörster (UWG) and Franziska Eberhardt (FDP), such as Meine-Onlinezeitung.de reported.
The CDU and UWG formed the CDU UWG group, while the SPD, Greens and FDP remained independent. However, the new council has no clear majority of a faction or group. Wolfgang Anders, the mayor of the community, had returned to the meeting after a disease -related break and carried out the formal instructions for the new council members. The session was led by Theodor Krause (CDU) as a “retirement chair”.
As part of the session, new committees were also formed, e.g. B. the velvet community committee with Wolfgang Anders at the top. Further committees include school, finance, fire protection and building. In addition, the Greens received a basic mandate in some committees. The introduction of a member of the honor for long-time council members was decided, with Hans-Dieter Steenbock received this honor after 45 years of active rat activity.
