Uhu offspring in danger: Investigations against hikers at Ith!
Uhu offspring in danger: Investigations against hikers at Ith!
Watch hikers and climbers! From October 27th, parts of the Lüerdiss cliffs in the ITH nature reserve will be blocked to support the settlement of a new UHU couple. This decision follows a worrying trend in the past two years, in which, despite existing closures, no successful Uhu broods have been found. Heike Jandt from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority emphasizes that the early protective measure is necessary to offer the birds calm during the breeding site search. "With a little luck, the eagle owl will quickly be resounded," hopes Jandt.
However, it should be pointed out that access to the rocks in the entire region is generally only permitted on marked paths. Disruptions by hikers and climbers have to be avoided to protect breeding birds. This blocking against disorders applies until the beginning of the breeding season in spring, whereby the Holzen cliffs will continue to be blocked from February 1, 2025. The authorities call for nature lovers to respect the ban on entering and climbing. You can find more information about this here .
