Tobias Schröck about farewell to FCI: End of career is realistic!

Etting, Deutschland - Tobias Schröck, the identification figure of FC Ingolstadt, will not receive a new contract in the summer of 2024. The 31-year-old central defender has not yet found a new club and is thinking about a possible, premature end of career. "I would have loved to end my career here," admits Schröck, who played 135 games for the Schanzer in his seven years and shone as captain. He was celebrated by the fans in an emotional farewell game, but reality is tough. The search for a new club is difficult because of its injury history.

Schröck has not visited a game since May and feels emotionally burdened. Even if he enjoyed his family in Etting, football remains his passion. He trains regularly, also with the second team of the Schanzer. Nevertheless, he is aware that he may be faced with a career end. If no suitable club is found until winter, it could be forced to hang out the football shoes. "It would be a tough step to stop," said Schröck, who hopes to continue to be active on the pitch.
