Third pigeon house opened in Jena: a step towards cleanliness!

In an impressive step for animal welfare, the city of Jena opened its third pigeon house - now at Löbderstraße 2! Mayor Christian Gerlitz and numerous partners celebrated the inauguration of this important project, which was financed with 100,000 euros, with the city and supporters bearing the costs of around half. The new premises offer space for 140 nesting places and are looked after by an experienced pigeon manager. This is intended to maintain the city pigeon population sustainably and at the same time improve cleanliness in the cityscape.

The first two pigeon houses on the Löbdergraben and on the Goethe Gallery have already shown positive effects, but the central city center urgently needed another opportunity for the feathered residents. The initiative aims to create a species -appropriate environment that promotes the well -being of the pigeons and at the same time reduces contamination by pigeon droppings.
