Functioning in Jena: Citizens' survey for sustainable use starts

an important survey on energy use in Jena

The Ernst Abbe University of Jena started a survey in cooperation with various local partners to examine energy use in Jena households. This initiative is an important step in the ongoing discussion about the city's future energy supply, especially with regard to sustainability and costs. The survey begins on August 12, 2024 and is aimed at randomly selected households in the city.

meaning of the survey for citizens and urban development

The survey is part of the Jenergiere composite project, which includes the city of Jena as well as the Stadtwerke Jena and Jenawohnen GmbH. The aim of the project is to develop solutions for an effective energy transition that is both financially portable and as needed. The focus is on the intelligent compensation of energy requirements and generation, which is of great importance for sustainable urban development.

content of the survey

The survey includes several topics that are relevant to Jena households. Among other things, the participants are asked how they want to participate in the energy transition and what effects they expect on their personal energy consumption. The data collected should not only provide an overview of current energy use, but also reflect the different views and experiences of the citizens.

The role of the Jena population

Professor Dr.-Ing. Matthias Schirmer, the sub -project manager of the survey, emphasizes the importance of citizens' participation: "Only through the willingness of many of many can we achieve sustainable results and enable future -proof design of energy use in Jena". The support of the citizens is crucial so that the data collected reflect the actual needs and perspectives of the community.

incentives to participate

To motivate the Jena population to participate in the survey, 20 shopping vouchers worth 25 to 100 euros are raffled off among all participants. This is intended to offer incentive to actively participate in the design of the future energy supply.

Ein Aufruf zur Mitwirkung

The survey offers an excellent opportunity for the people in Jena to raise their voice in a topic that is decisive for the city. Access to the survey takes place by post via an online questionnaire, which makes participation easier. It is not only an opportunity for the city to adapt to the challenges of the energy supply of the future, but also for citizens to actively participate in this important discussion.
