Driver is experiencing a terrorist: bike loosens on the motorway tunnel in Jena
traffic accident in the tunnel: one wheel less, but happiness in misfortune
On Tuesday evening, an unusual incident occurred in the tunnel in Rothenstein, in which a driver suddenly had to cope with his vehicle with only three wheels. The 38-year-old driver was out of the direction of Jena when the front left bike loosened and crashed into a hydrant who was also in the tunnel. Fortunately, the man managed to safely steer his vehicle on the hard shoulder without causing a collision.
The incident not only damaged the lane ceiling, but also affected the hydrant. The driver was not injured, but the damage to his vehicle should be considerable. The police suspect that after a previous tire change was missed to properly attract the wheel bolts.
Such an incident illustrates the importance of regular controls on vehicles, especially after maintenance work. An apparently harmless mistake can quickly lead to dangerous situations, as this case shows.
The State Police Inspection Jena was on site and secured the scene of the accident. The Thuringian police are available for questions on 03641-811503 or by e-mail at pressstelle.lpi.jena@polizei.thueringen.de.
