Rescue exercise in the Jagdberg tunnel: 200 saviors train for an emergency!
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the A4 near Jena is blocked in the Jagdberg tunnel at Jena due to a large -scale rescue exercise. The highway remains closed between the Bucha and Jena Göschwitz junctions from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions for traffic. The aim of the exercise is to test the efficiency of rescue measures in vehicle fires and the fast evacuation of people from a smoky tunnel.
Around 200 rescue workers, including firefighters, police officers and disaster protectionists, are involved in this demanding exercise. They are supported by 100 extras who act as injuries with artificial wounds, and 50 observers who pursue the scenarios from the front row. The simulation also tests a new respiratory protection technology, which will be used in the future for rescues in smoke. This comprehensive exercise takes place every four years to ensure operational capacity for large damage events. Because of the extreme dangers that emerge from smoke and heat in tunnels, realistic preparation is essential. You can find out more in a report by www.mdr.de .
