Pumpkin competition in Möckern: 687 kg of heavy tremendously enthusiastic!
In Möckern, the most difficult pumpkin Saxony-Anhalt was weighed on Saturday this year. The impressive colossus weighs 687 kilograms and comes from Andreas Bartlog from Weddersleben. The pumpkin belongs to the “Atlantic Giant” variety and thus clearly opposed the previous year's winner Max Adel, whose pumpkin only took second place with 642 kilograms. Third place went to Michel Krieger from Aschersleben, who presented a pumpkin weighing 450 kilograms. The event, now the fourth of its kind, was organized by the "Beetete" allotment garden association and attracts participants from various federal states who send their gigantic breeds into the race.
Bartlog, who has only been active in pumpkin breeding for two years, is proud of his success: "It is great for the second year." The seed nucleus of his record bite comes from a German master plant in the previous year. In order to breed such a heavyweight pumpkin, daily care and immense amounts of water are necessary-up to 500 liters per day. In addition to the competition, further records were set up in other plants, including the longest long -graying in Germany and weighty zucchini and melons. These exciting developments were duly celebrated at the event. noreferer "> as reports www.volksstimme.de .
