Freemason in Pirmasens: A look behind the secret scenes

The mysterious Freemasons often attract the eyes of the curious people. They are often perceived in a fog of distrust and imagination. However, in the heart of Pirmasens, the Freemason lodge "For loyalty to the mountain Horeb" is actively looking for dialogue and offers a slot machine of reality. Under the direction of Uwe Scheid, master of ceremonies and deputy champions from the chair, the brothers of the lodge decided to counter their prejudices and give people an insight into their practices.

The inconspicuous building on Beckenhofer Straße is home to the lodge, which currently has 22 brothers, age range from early 50th to mid -70. Scheid notes that many men are in the middle of life and ask themselves: "What comes now?", That is why they exchange creatively about personal development and community support. While many people reach for clichés such as "Illuminati", the reality of the Freemasons is different: "We are not a secret covenant," emphasizes Scheid. "We don't drink blood out of the skull!"

a place of fraternity and exchange

The Freemasons are committed to humanity, fraternity and tolerance. Their gatherings not only serve to exchange ideas, but also to self -optimization. In the temple, a special room that is only accessible to the brothers, intensive work on personal development is done. Despite all the efforts, they know that mistakes and setbacks are human. "It's a tedious way, but the support of the brothers gives strength," emphasizes Scheid. There are no hierarchies in the box - regardless of whether it is successful in the business world or not, everyone has the same importance.

An important aspect of Freemasonry are the rituals that have a long tradition. A new member is taken up by a ritual of several hours, in which music and light play an important role. However, more details are hidden due to the arcane principle, which says that certain aspects are only accessible to the initiates. Scheid explains that these experiences are often difficult for outsiders to understand. "It's something you have to feel," he says.

pirmasens can look back on a long history of Freemasonry. Bere as early as 1778 the box was founded "to the burning grenade", which represents a significant cultural heritage. Originally, Freemasonry developed in the 17th century, as well as non-stone butchers were developed. Here the lodges played an important role as places for the exchange of revolutionary ideas that were not allowed to reach out.

Although Freemason lodges are traditionally male, there are now also women lodges who represent the same values. These differ in recognition by the "United Grand Lodge of England", but Freemasonry is no longer exclusively a matter of male.

On August 29th at 7 p.m., the Pirmasens Loge organizes an open guest evening. Interested parties are invited to learn more about Freemasonry and get to know the brothers.
