Sturm Kirk rages via Rhineland-Palatinate: Damage and failures reported!
Sturm "Kirk" caused power outages and fallen trees in Rhineland-Palatinate. While the storm raged less violently than feared, numerous trees were uprooted in several cities, including Koblenz and Trier. In Kaiserslautern, the electricity in the West Palatinate Clinic was canceled, but the emergency current immediately took over. Overall, the damage has remained limited, there were no injuries.
At the same time, a protest march from bank employees in Mainz ensures traffic disruptions. The ver.di union called for strike to draw attention to the ongoing collective bargaining in the public banking industry. The employees march through the Theodor Heuss Bridge, planned with a rally at the Hotel Hilton. Car travelers should adapt to restrictions around the bridge while the negotiations are continued.
