A court in Bucharest has decided that the British-American influencer Andrew Tate and his brother are allowed to leave Tristan Romania. The two men were recorded in the Eastern European country due to serious allegations, but must not leave the area of the European Union. The court's decision is provisional and the public prosecutor has the opportunity to appeal against it.
The judiciary in Romania accuses the Tate brothers and two other people of human trade and rape. They are accused of forced young women using manipulation techniques to participate in pornographic content. Andrew Tate, who became known through misogynistic statements on social media, presented a luxurious lifestyle and thus reached a large followers in young people and young men.
The Tate brothers and their alleged accomplices were arrested in Bucharest at the end of December 2022 and accommodated in house arrest after three months. They have been allowed to move freely since August 2023, but not to leave the country.
