New ways: Change of medical managing director at the Karlsruhe City Clinic

Prof. Dr. Michael Geißler leaves Clinic Karlsruhe in autumn

The news of the departure of the medical managing director of the Karlsruhe City Clinic, Prof. Dr. Michael Geißler caused a sensation in mid -June. Geißler will leave the company and join the renowned St. Georg Clinic in Leipzig. His farewell from the Karlsruhe Clinic is planned for September 17, 2024, and he will probably start his new position in autumn of this year. Since taking office in September 2020, Geißler has significantly shaped the medical management of the clinic.

The decision of the Supervisory Board to sign the termination agreement was made unanimously. In a press release, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mayor Bettina Lisbach, emphasized that the course is set for a selection process for the new occupation of the medical management. An experienced personnel service provider is consulted in order to identify suitable candidates who could take on Geißler's role.

A new teamwork of the supervisory board is planned for the coming October to discuss the next steps in the selection process. It is expected that the search for a suitable successor will be carried out thoroughly and carefully to ensure continuity in the medical management of the clinic.

In his meeting, the Supervisory Board Professor Geißler thanked on behalf of the city of Karlsruhe, the Supervisory Board and the entire clinic for his commitment and professional leadership in recent years. His contribution to the further development and modernization of the Karlsruhe City Clinic was particularly emphasized.
