Strike shakes tram in Karlsruhe: delays and failures!
In the Karlsruhe area, there were considerable disorders in the triads on Monday, triggered by a warning strike of the ver.di union. In particular, employees of car maintenance and workshops were affected, but according to ver.di, the effects on regular driving operations were initially limited. The Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) explained that most of the light rail lines continued to run in terms of plan and only occasionally failed. Also at a rally in Ettlingen, around 50 employees demonstrated for higher wages, while the union demands 350 euros more per month plus an inflation compensation of 1,300 euros.
In addition, there were strikes at SWEG Bus GmbH in Wiesloch and Sinsheim, where school buses were also affected. Nevertheless, some bus lines in the Schwetzingen area continued to drive normal. The conflict between ver.di and the employers' association German railways remains tense because employers only offer three percent more salary, while the union describes this claim as "completely inadequate". The collective bargaining will continue on November 11th. Further information on this topic is on www.swr.de Available.
