Hydrogen pipeline through the southern Palatinate: future for local industry!
The Federal Network Agency has given the green light for the Germany-wide hydrogen kernel network! A central pipeline will run through the South Palatinate and connect the important industrial cities of Ludwigshafen and Karlsruhe. The CDU MP Thomas Gebhart described the decision as "good news" and emphasizes how important it is to provide companies like BASF with hydrogen to secure decisive location factors.
The new hydrogen pipeline will be 59 kilometers long and is to be completed by 2030. The costs amount to around 172 million euros, without federal funds. A possible course along the B9 is currently being discussed. From 2032, the Federal Government is planning to complete the network in order to ensure the water supply for a climate -friendly energy future throughout Germany. A total of over 9,000 kilometers of hydrogen lines should pull through German soil and make hydrogen into the key of the energy management turn, while 30 to 50 percent of the needs are to be produced in their own country.
