In a dramatic accident on Tuesday morning in Kassel-Nord, a BMW driver was slightly injured with a tree after a collision. The 54-year-old had overtaken several vehicles at high speed on Bunsenstrasse before losing control of his car and heading against a tree. After the impact, the engine compartment of the car ignited, but fortunately the driver was able to save himself from the burning vehicle. As a precaution, rescue workers took him to a hospital where he was treated with minor injuries.

The police found during the first investigation that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, which was confirmed by a breath alcohol test with around 1 per thousand. His driver's license was ensured and he now has to answer for danger to road traffic. The total damage is estimated at around 80,000 euros, while the tree was also significantly damaged.
