The lack of marking on spice mixtures can be life -threatening for some people. A wholesaler now warns of an extensive recall of certain spice products.

origin of the recall

The Kosebate GmbH, a wholesale company, has published a warning for spice mixtures that came into force at the end of June 2024 and has now been expanded. Initially, the warning only concerned certain minimum preservation and manufacturing data, now all articles are affected according to a current message.

affected products

The company particularly warns of three spice products from the Alarjawi brand:

  • alarjawi green thyme spice preparation
  • Alarjawi Roter Thyme Special preparation
  • alarjawi premium thyme spice preparation

health risks

The reason for the recall is still the lack of labeling for soy and peanuts on the products. Allergy sufferers run the risk of developing serious health problems when eating the spices, such as rashes, diarrhea, diarrhea, nausea, respiratory problems, stomach and intestinal inflammation, up to life-threatening anaphylactic shock.

measures for consumers

The recall affects various federal states, including Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Saxony-Anhalt. The company emphasizes that no affected product may be sold - sales according to 04.07.2024 are punishable if you have the old label without reference to soy and peanut. Customers who have purchased the affected spice mixtures can also return them in the sales outlets without receipt.

It is also warned of a further recall of spices about the risk of internal injuries. In addition, the brands Maggi and Thomy recommend caution when consuming certain sauce products. For non-allergicists, however, there is no danger of consuming the spices affected.
