advantages for mobility and environment

The region around the Kassel district faces a significant innovation that could promote both the mobility of the citizens and the environmentally friendly turn of traffic. The results of a recently carried out feasibility study to improve the bike connection between Bad Emstal and Schauenburg were presented. This Initiative could not only make commuting, but also increase the quality of life of the residents.

meeting of the decision -makers

At the Schauenburg town hall, representatives of the district, the two municipalities and experts from the engineering office Hesse and Partner, met to analyze the results of the feasibility study. The Bad Emstal cycle path initiative, which earned valuable proposals for route guidance in advance, received special attention. The aim of this meeting was to exchange ideas about the next steps to implement the bike connection.

feasibility study shows solutions

The study identified four possible routes between Bad Emstal-Sand and Schauenburg-Breitenbach. Under these suggestions, two favorites emerged, which have a length of about six to seven kilometers each. In order to enable year -round use, an asphalt expansion is planned, and the total investment is estimated at around four million euros.

meaning for commuters and everyday life

Oliver Brunkow, specialist service center in the regional development of the district of Kassel, emphasizes the importance of this measure: "So far there has been no suitable everyday connection between Bad Emstal and Schauenburg. A gap closure would be of great importance," he explains and refers to the difficulties that Pendler currently has to master. The desired cycle path connection could not only reduce the travel effort, but also contribute to promoting cycling in everyday life.

Next steps to realize

In the coming step, the district of Kassel with Hessen Mobil will negotiate about possible grants and financing models. After the summer vacation, the actors involved expect the first feedback on the further procedure. The creation of a secure and attractive bike connection is another step to make the region more livable and to support environmentally friendly traffic.
