University of Kassel: Stable students, but urge financial worries!
The University of Kassel starts optimistically into the winter semester 2024! The university, which expects around 22,000 registration, expects stabilized students directly at the level of the previous year. The slightly increased number of freshmen- 4,440 on bachelor and master places is particularly gratifying, which means a small plus compared to 2023. But not everything is rosy: more and more students are breaking their studies, which is interpreted as a sign of the good labor market situation.
The more the university is under financial pressure due to rising costs that also affect other Hessian universities. President Ute Clement expresses concern about the uncertain budget for 2025 and the ongoing negotiations on the Hessian university pact by 2030. Under these nerve -wracking circumstances, the planned new building for natural sciences could also be on the brink. Originally planned for 2026, construction will now be postponed to 2028, while the costs of 120 million euros are to be reduced. Further details can be found in a report on www.hna.de .
