Kiel researchers start new project to combat leukemia resistance

Kiel research raises the alarm in the fight against acute myeloid leukemia (aml)! A state-of-the-art research project at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein receives generous funding of 360,000 euros from German Cancer Aid. The aim is to analyze the causes of therapy resistance at AML, especially in cases with IDH1-end defects. These mutations disrupt normal cell maturation and can lead to dangerous relapses.

under the direction of Dr. Sophie Steinhäuser and experienced experts such as Professor Friedrich Stölzel and Professor Claudia Baldus is being examined intensively on how the changed 3D DNA structure in cancer cells can contribute to resistance to the newly approved drug Ivosidenib. In addition, the project is intended to find out how Ivosidenib influences the immune system in order to develop tailor -made treatment approaches. "Our research could be crucial to prevent relapses and improve the therapy of IDH1 mutated AML," emphasizes Baldus. Read more about this at www.uni-kiel.de .
