Protest against court reform: Thousands of requesting the judiciary!
Kiel, Deutschland - Judge associations and unions raise the voice against the controversial court reform in Schleswig-Holstein! On Thursday, around 200 people protested before the state parliament in Kiel. At the center of the discussion is the planned merger of the work and social courts at a single location, possibly in Neumünster. This reform encounters massive criticism; A petition campaign has collected several thousand signatures in just a few days.
The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and other organizations warn that the accessibility of the courts for the weakest members of society is at risk and fear that people who are dependent on social courts will be disadvantaged. Justice Minister Kerstin von der Keden (CDU) faced the demonstrators and emphasized that she took her concerns seriously, while at the same time emphasizing the advantages of reform in relation to more flexible ways of working. The demonstration was organized by an alliance from various associations that merged against the planned reform. More information on this topic can be found at www.ndr.de .
