Remembrance in Kitzingen: Leaning on the wreath of the Reichspogromnacht

The city of Kitzingen honored the victims of the Reichspogromnacht with a moving wreath laying in front of the old synagogue on Saturday, November 9th, at 6 p.m. Mayor Stefan Güntner recalled the terrible night from November 9th to 10th, 1938, when the National Socialist regime also set fire to the synagogue in Kitzingen and devastated Jewish facilities.

In addition to the laying of wreath, the “The faces return back” takes place on the same day in the old synagogue. Before that, on November 8 at 10 a.m., a stumbling block is carried out, which is accompanied by the Jewish descendant Lauren but from the USA. She is a descendant of deported family members who used to live on Moltkestrasse. These events are part of the continuous efforts to keep the memory of the darkest time in German history and to pay respect for victims. Further information can be found here .
