The municipal council only meets informative: water fees and event barn in focus
In Biebelried, the council members gathered for a session, but the result was sobering. Despite the expectant glances of the mayor Roland Hoh, only six council members remained present, which restricted the decision of the assembly. Thus, the originally planned topic of the fee calculation for water could not be treated. Instead, only information was passed on, including the presentation of a new project: an event barn.
The challenges in the calculation of the water fees were the focus of the advice. Dieter Pfister, the branch manager of the Kitzingen administrative community, brought up the worrying figures. In contrast to the wastewater fees, in which the municipality has to work costly, there is a need for action for the water fees. The deficit of 72,000 euros must be compensated for by the citizens, which requires an increase in water costs. The current amount of 2.82 euros per cubic meter must increase to EUR 3.79. The basic fee is also to be raised from currently 6.14 euros to 40 euros per year.
event barn as a new contact point
Another topic of the session was the planned event barn, which was brought up by Eva Hornung and Andrea Wedel from the "Old Barn Atelier" in Effeldorfer Strasse. The peculiarity of this project is the conversion of an old barn into a multifunctional event location. The existing small stone house also sees itself as a living space, while parking spaces for future visitors are intended on the back.
The event barn should become a central place for various occasions, be it for weddings, company parties or social events such as weekly markets and village festivals. Hornung made it clear that the neighbors are already involved in the planning, which should ensure a harmonious neighborhood and acceptance. The topic of noise, which was addressed by Mayor Deputy Gabriele Brejschka, is taken into account by planned sound insulation measures. After 10 p.m. the outside area of the barn should remain closed so as not to disturb residents.
The discussion about the event barn shows that the municipality of Biebelried not only deals with the challenges of finance, but also brings new ways to improve the quality of life and leisure opportunities for citizens. While the council meeting could not be made, the plan for the event barn is a bright spot and could become a valuable attraction for the community.
