Applications for 39 projects: Funding against loneliness starts on August 19

As part of the state program "2,000 x 1,000 euros for commitment", the district of Kleve is promoted again to combat loneliness in the community. From the 19. August 2024 clubs, initiatives and civil society organizations have the opportunity to submit applications for funding of up to 39,000 euros. These funds are part of a larger state campaign that provides a fabulous two million euros to support projects that are directed against social isolation.

The social relevance of the initiative

Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst emphasizes that loneliness should be seen as "the new social question of our time". It is not only an individual problem that affects those directly affected, but also represents a threat to social cohesion. The funding aims to take concrete measures that strengthen the coexistence in society.

The program "Du+Wir = one-North Rhine-Westphalia against loneliness" admits a wide range of projects that are aimed at people who suffer from loneliness or are threatened with it. Suggestions such as the creation of meeting places, workshops to raise awareness of loneliness or measures that take action against discrimination and bullying can be applied for.

"In recent years, great initiatives and projects have benefited from state funding," explains district administrator Christoph Gerwers. This financial support is seen as an essential building block to realize innovative ideas for combating loneliness in the district of Kleve.

Access to funding: Who can submit applications?

The special thing about this program is the openness for different forms of civil society engagements. In addition to associations, neighborhood initiatives and foundations are also entitled to apply that want to take action against loneliness in their living environment. This makes funding accessible to many small groups who want to help their immediate neighbors. Projects must be up to 31. December 2024 are implemented and billed.

Information and access to the application

Registration and application is carried out via the online portal www.engagementfoerderung.nrw. After digital shipping of the application, this must be printed out, signed and sent to the district administration. Since only 39 projects in the district of Kleve can be promoted, the "greyhound principle" applies here, which means that the applications are processed in the order of their receipt.

The deadline for the application ends on 01. November 2024 . Customer service is available for questions, and for the first time an online information event is offered on the day of the application start to facilitate the application. This offer is intended to help those interested in better understanding the process and successfully implement their ideas.
