Solemn introduction of 19 emergency paste in Wesel and Kleve

19 committed citizens have decided to work as a voluntary emergency pastor in the Wesel and Kleve districts. On June 29, 2024, they were officially commissioned in a solemn ceremony in the St. Walburgis church in Alpen-Menzelen. These people have received an apprenticeship from the full-time emergency passing Kerstin Pekur-Vogt and Peter Bromkamp in the past six months.

Emergency pastoral care plays a crucial role in supporting people in acute crisis situations, be it after a serious accident or the sudden loss of a loved one. The newly commissioned emergency paste are ready around the clock to help those affected and to help them in their grief or fear.

The training for this important activity includes both theoretical and practical elements and ensures that the volunteers are prepared for any situation. It is also important that their support applies to everyone, regardless of their religious belonging. Emergency passers are called exclusively by the control center if their use is required.

In their greetings at the ceremony, Ingo Brohl, District Administrator of the Wesel district, Bianca van der Heyden, pastor for emergency pastoral care of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland, and Jürgen Baetzen, Head of Population Protection and Rescue system of the Kleve district, the commitment and the willingness of the new emergency paste. Representatives of the fire brigade also took part in the event to express their appreciation for this important service.

The takeover of this volunteer requires strong resilience and willingness to be there for others even in difficult moments. The full -time emergency paste is at the side of the volunteer colleagues and offer them support to ensure that they can also meet their important task in the long term.

The decision of these 19 people to put themselves in the service of emergency pastoral care is of great importance for the municipalities in the Wesel and Kleve districts.
