Together for Kleve: Become part of the tree donation campaign!

kleve. The importance of city trees in Kleve cannot be assessed high enough. They not only fulfill an aesthetic function by embellishing the cityscape, but also contribute to the well -being of the citizens in many ways. City trees improve air quality, bind dust, offer protection against noise and create habitats for a variety of animals and plants. They also play an important role in protecting the groundwater and the soil. With their evaporation processes, they ensure that the city's microclimate remains pleasant and offer urgently needed shadows in the hot months. And globally, trees are significant CO2 memory, which underlines their value today.

But not everyone has the opportunity to plant a tree in their own garden. This is a big topic, especially for the residents of apartment buildings or for those who live in urban areas. This is where the innovative tree donation concept "My Baum für Kleve" comes in, which offers all citizens and organizations the opportunity to actively contribute to greening the city. Regardless of their own living situation, private individuals, school classes, companies and clubs can now also make part of Kleves.

How does the tree donation campaign work?

The concept is simple and barrier -free: Interested donors can select from three different planting areas on which their donated trees are to be planted. The space available are the football field on Berliner Straße, the Willibrordpark in Kellen and the playground on Eichenallee. In order to take part in the campaign, donors must fill out a donation agreement on the website of the city of Kleve and send it to the city. The city then takes care of all further steps, from the application to planting the young trees.

The minimum donation amount for planting a tree is 500 euros. Here, several people can also come together and donate a common amount, which is a great opportunity to become active in the circle of friends or within a club. However, a complete tree planting entails higher costs - including the necessary care over five years, these amount to around 2,500 euros. The difference between the donations and the total costs is borne by the city of Kleve, which encourages citizens to participate in the campaign and actively contribute to improving their habitat.

For the upcoming planting period, which is planned from November 2024 to March 2025, donations must be received by September 30th to be taken into account. The city then notifies the donors over the exact plant date of their donated trees. A variety of information materials are available on the website of the city of Kleve: detailed maps of the available planting areas, lists of the intended tree species and the form for donation agreement can be found there. If you have any further questions, interested parties can contact the responsible bodies of the city.
