HSRW Submarine team triumphs with sustainably built submarine
Successful submarine design: Sustainability at the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences
kleve. The Submarine team of the Rhein-Waal (HSRW) University of Applied Sciences has once again demonstrated its impressive skills. The students of the Faculty of Technology and Bionics achieved remarkable success at the European International Submarine Race in Gosport, England. Her latest submarine, Chelonia, was honored with the price of sustainability, which underlines progress towards environmentally friendly technology in the field of education.
The way to the award
The submarine Chelonia, which was developed by a dedicated team of students under the direction of team captain Sophia Felicia Salome Döring, was in competition for the first time. The construction of the underwater vehicle, which consists of the recyclable materials PETG and aluminum, embodies the principles of the bionics. The pilot Oskar Neumann uses its muscle strength to locate, which is a sustainable innovation that was inspired by the drive of animals such as fish and penguins.
strict framework and community spirit
In order to take part in the competition, the students had to design and build the submarine independently, which required months of preparation. These strict criteria promote not only the technical skills of the participants, but also the team spirit and the cooperation within the submarine team.
positive effects on the community
The win of the sustainability award not only proudly made the members of the team, but also strengthened the call of the HSRW as the leading institution for innovative technical training. The support of support associations, such as the Förderverein Campus Cleve e.V. and the Förderverein Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V., shows the value of partnerships between educational institutions and the community.
look into the future
The next race has already been announced on the Canary Islands for September 2024. Participation in this international competition is again possible through the generous support of the two sponsoring associations, which supports the long-term vision of the submarine team to continue innoving and learning.
The achievements of the team prove that sustainability and technological progress can go hand in hand and open up new aspirants to an environmentally conscious future in engineering.
