Creative carpenter from Kleve and Emmerich: The winners of the The good form competition

kleve. The latest success of young carpenters were recognized in a competition that focuses on creativity and manual skills of the journeyman.

a competition with innovation

The carpenter guild in the district of Kleve recently carried out the “The good form” competition, which focuses on the creative design and functionality of pieces of furniture. Unlike conventional exams, in which the manual execution is primarily evaluated, the focus here is on the idea, shape, function and construction of the furniture. A six -member jury assessed a total of 18 journeyman pieces from different creative perspectives.

winner with sustainable approach

Stella Lamers from Kevelaer was awarded the winner of the competition. She constructed her "fantastic, bamboo table! Desk" at the company Proest Object Institutions GmbH in Uedem. The furniture captivates with a bamboo body, a material that is not one of the wooden plants, but one of the sweet grass. The combination of the light material with a stable metal frame gives the desk a remarkable lightness that the jury particularly recognized.

modern designs from local craftsmanship

Filip Walczak, another talented carpenter from Kleve, received the second prize for a hanging sideboard made of cherry tree. The innovative design with a large sliding door enables uncomplicated access and gives the piece of furniture a modern touch. These characteristics show how young carpenters can combine technical skills and design ideas.

sustainability in craft

Hauke van Elk from Emmerich was also recognized for his "dining table nature in oak". With this piece, it brings sustainable choice of material and timeless design. The original appearance of the oak harmonizes perfectly with a stable table frame made of pipe steel and a leather handle, which shows that functional furniture can also be aesthetically appealing. The jury particularly emphasized the sustainability of the design.

personal note in the design

The commendations also went to Lukas Fingerhut from Emmerich, whose "sideboard made of oak smoking" also scored with its versatility and appealing design. Lukas emphasized that his journeyman is both practical and visually appealing, which can easily be integrated into different furnishing styles.

The results of this competition are not only an award for the manual skill of the young carpenters, but also underline the importance of creativity and sustainable materials in today's furniture design. Under certain conditions, the works can be considered in more detail, which gives the audience the opportunity to be inspired by regional craft.
