Circle Kleve on the city cycling: saved 250 tons of CO2!
In the "City Cycling Circlecs 2024" campaign, the cyclists in the district of Kleve covered a total of 1.51 million kilometers. Over 7,100 participants from all 16 cities and municipalities have saved about 250 tons of CO2 compared to car trips. Although they could not build on the record of the previous year with 2.16 million kilometers, District Administrator Christoph Gerwers considered the performance to be remarkable in view of the mixed weather.
At the award ceremony, Bo van Weelden was honored with 1,922 kilometers as the most successful driver, while the team of the Caritas Association Kleve e.V. was in the team classification with 9,682 kilometers. In addition, prices were raffled off under the active cyclists. The main prize, an e-bike worth around 2,500 euros, went to Karl-Heinz Laube from Straelen. The initiative under the motto "Experience nature-CO2 savings" should promote the use of the bike for everyday paths and at the same time make a contribution to the environment, reports www.kreis-kleve.de .
