New emergency columns in Goch: Increase security of waters for emergencies
Important safety measure for water sports enthusiasts in Goch
The idea of having to call help in an emergency can be overwhelming. In Goch, where numerous people are active in summer - be it swimming, boating or simply relaxing on the water - a crucial step to improve security has now been taken.
The emergency call columns: an innovative solution
In 2019, the Björn-Steiger Foundation and the Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG), Landesverband Württemberg e.V., launched a project that focuses on the Installation of emergency call columns. These modern means of communication are particularly important in places where people are often involved in water activities, since there is a risk of an emergency - such as a bathing accident or cardiac arrest.
fast and uncomplicated help
The functionality of the emergency call columns is simple and user -friendly. Thanks to a solar panel and a mobile phone card, the columns are independent of external power sources. In an emergency, an alarm can be triggered at a simple push of a button, which is connected directly to the control center in Kleve. This system can be decisive if every second counts.
commitment of the DLRG and the city of Goch
The DLRG local group Goch, under the direction of Falk Neutzer, has been committed to safety for water for years. The installation of the first two emergency columns in the DLRG guard area, especially on Lake Wisseler and on the Nierswelle, is a result of its efforts and shows the commitment of the community to improve the security offer. Mayor Ulrich Knickrehm emphasized how important this measure is for the citizens and underlined the easy usability of the emergency call column.
outlook for other locations
Sascha Wolf, who has significantly promoted the project, expressed the desire for further locations in the Kleve region in order to give even more people access to help in an emergency. A potential new location in Geldern is already in prospect. These plans make it clear that the life rescue and safety of the citizens will continue to be the focus in the future.
The emergency call columns are therefore a significant step towards higher security for water sports enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation in Goch and the surrounding region. Such initiatives can significantly reduce the risk in an emergency and the citizens can pursue their activities more relaxed.
