In a dramatic animal rescue operation, the Kleve fire brigade was alerted on Monday evening to bring the run out of Panda lady Kamala back. Tiergarten employees had sighted the animal outside of their enclosure, and with a thermal chart drone, the emergency services were able to identify the equal signature of Kamala in a tree top in the adjacent forest after a short time. "No problem" notes fire inspector Florian Pose, who steered the drone after some of the usual animals such as rabbits and foxes had been spotted during previous exercises.

KAMALA sat in an oak at a height of 15 meters, which made an ordinary ladder unusable. After a short meeting, the aerial ladder of the Kleve fire truck was requested. Tiergarten director Martin Polotzek and a fireman climbed into the basket to catch the animal with a kescher and bring it back safely. "The mission lasted about three hours," said Polotzek, who thanked the firefighters for their commitment.
