Cunning cyclists: instead of help only theft in Kleve

kleve (NRW) - if you think you have already seen everything, life surprises life with new, frightening stories. One might think that humanity should rule in a moment of injury and helplessness. But in Kleve there was an incident that shakes confidence in the fellow human beings.

We see two cyclists on a dirt road in the gallery, who initially drive past each other peacefully. But then the unpredictable happens. About 50 meters later, the 65-year-old cyclist crashes from Bedburg-Hau, and remains injured on the ground. Instead of helping immediately, the other cyclist becomes an unscrupulous perpetrator.

An apparent savior turns out to be a thief

The second biker notices the fall. What follows could come from a thriller: instead of supporting the injured, he tries to pretend that he wants to help. The 65-year-old makes it clear that he does not want to be shot due to his pain and instead asks for help from someone who can call an ambulance.

But instead of picking up a mobile phone and putting the emergency call, this happens. The thief takes advantage of the situation, hermetically removes the luggage bags from the injured person's e-bike and assembles his own pockets on the valuable Gazelle bike before it simply drives away.

It is more than incomprehensible how such a situation can be encountered so cold -blooded. The brazen action left nothing but confusion and horror. The lost e-bike battery of the injured man was equally ignored and simply left where the crime took place.

The 65-year-old, despite pain and confusion, finally managed to get his cell phone out and choose the police emergency call. A little ray of hope in an otherwise extremely dark story.

Who can help? Description of the perpetrator and contact with the police

The police have now started the investigation and is looking for witnesses. The thief sought is about 50 years old, around 170 cm tall, described with dark blonde hair and a striking three-day beard. His appearance was neglected overall, and there is an assumption that it could be Eastern European origin.

Witnesses who may have observed the incident or can provide information on the origin of the bike left behind are urgently asked to contact the police immediately on 02821-5040.

Such incidents raise questions: How could this escalation come about? And where is the solidarity in moments when help is most urgently needed? The incident in Kleve is not only an alarming sign of the absence of empathy, but also an urgent call to society to think about human values.

The lost things are important, but human values and the ability to help have an even deeper meaning in our community. May this incident serves as a reminder to remind us all of what really matters.
