reinforced speed controls in the region: A look at safety on the streets

In the 32nd calendar week, the police will carry out intensive speed measurements in the area of the Trier police headquarters. This measure is part of a comprehensive initiative to increase traffic safety and is implemented in particular on strongly frequented roads in the region.

The locations of speed measurements

  • Monday, August 5: A602 Kenn, B50 Metterich, B327 Morbach, B51 Aach, Bernkastel-Kues
  • Tuesday, August 6th: L348 Fohren-Linden, B53 Mehring, L47 Daun, A602 Trier, B50 Binsfeld
  • Wednesday, August 7: B53 Traben-Trarbach, A1 Fell, B51 Stadtkyll
  • Thursday, August 8: K133 Konz, B51 Trier, Bernkastel-Kues, L46 Daun
  • Friday, August 9: B41 Idar-Oberstein, L348 Fohren-Linden

The locations mentioned above were chosen because they have frequent traffic volume and have been observed in the past. In addition to the fixed measurements, the police will also carry out mobile controls to record spontaneous speed violations.

The importance of such measures for traffic safety

The increase in speed measurements is not only a reaction to traffic accidents, which are often due to excessive speeds, but also a long -term plan for prevention of accidents. Studies show that speed limits in connection with regular controls can lead to a decline in traffic accidents.

In addition, such measures promote awareness of compliance with the traffic rules. Especially in rural areas, where speed overruns are often not immediately punished, the visibility of the police can cause drivers to act more carefully.

What does that mean for drivers?

For drivers in the region, this means that they will have to expect speed controls more and more from next week. The police appeal to all road users to adhere to the often defined speed limits and thus contribute to the safety of everyone
