Koblenz Medicine Campus: Delay causes great disappointment!

The medical campus in Koblenz has to be pushed back to the long bench! The start, originally planned for the winter semester 2024/25, has now been postponed to the summer semester 2025. Josef Oster, member of the Bundestag and the CDU spokesman spokesman, is disappointed and criticizes the inefficient inertia of the SPD-led state government. This justifies the delay with bureaucratic hurdles and necessary votes with the Federal Ministry of Defense.

Originally, the medical campus should begin with a starting capacity of 36 medical students per semester, which should be expanded to 48 to 60 students. But reality looks different: instead, only 25 places are now planned for the winter semester 2025. Oster argues that Rhineland-Palatinate urgently needs more medical specialists and sees a valuable opportunity in the medical campus to improve medical care in the region. He urgently hopes for a consistent start of the project to secure medical training on site. More details on this can be found here
