Lifeguard in the Westerwald: The new First Responder Group is acting so quickly!
In the Assbach Association (Neuwied district), a new group of volunteers, the so -called first responders, has formed. Since the beginning of August, these 65 trained helpers have been available to provide quick support for cardiovascular diseases before the ambulance arrives. They are optimally equipped with specially sponsored emergency cases, jackets and defibrillators. The alarm is carried out via a special app that is also used for the fire brigade, and so far the first aiders have already been used eight times.
Time is crucial, because in Rhineland-Palatinate the ambulance should be on site within eight minutes. Unfortunately, this is often not the case in the Montabaur rescue service area: According to a SWR research, this time brand in 2022 was only observed in 28 percent of the cases. Patricia Sacher, one of the committed first aiders and experienced nurse, knows the urgency. She reports of challenging missions in which quick help was decisive and emphasizes the importance of cooperation in the team during the resuscitation, which is very exhausting and time -critical.
