Sturm Kirk provides chaos: trees overturned and streets blocked!
A storm called "Kirk" raged over Rhineland-Palatinate, but less devastating than feared. In Koblenz and Trier, trees were overturned, streets were blocked, but there were greater damage and injured. The electricity also temporarily failed in the West Palatinate Clinic in Kusel, whereby the emergency current immediately reached. Despite the heavy rains, there were only a few police and operational reports, which indicates a relatively glimpse night.
In Mainz, a traffic accident caused chaos: an 18-year-old lost control of her car and landed on rails, which resulted in a temporary blocking of the Mainz-Worms railway line. Fortunately, she and her passenger remained unharmed. In the meantime, the hurricane "Milton" on the coast of Florida caused the first confirmed deaths. Strong winds of up to 200 km/h increase the region, an alarming sign for the flooded areas. For detailed information on the events, we refer to the current reporting of www.swr.de .
