Telemedicine in Andernach: groundbreaking center for heart -sick patients
in the district of Mayen-Koblenz, an important step in medical care is taken by the introduction of the first telemedical center in the Middle Rhine region. This innovative project called "Herz.Gesund" began as a pilot project at the end of 2022 and has continuously developed since then. It opens up new perspectives for patients with advanced heart failure and shows how modern technologies can improve health care.
digital innovation meets cardiological expertise
The telemedical center at the St. Nikolaus Foundation Hospital in Andernach is under the direction of Dr. Ralph Rüdelstein, who acts as chief physician of cardiology. The aim of the center is to monitor patients with severe heart weaknesses using a digital platform. The patients are looked after here via special software that enables cardiologists to pursue their vital data in real time and to react quickly to change.
The role of funding and local actors
Financially supported the project by the “Smarte Region Myk10” program, which was launched by the district of Mayen-Koblenz. "Telemedicine offers important supplementary options in patient care," emphasizes Cornelia Kaltenborn, the managing director of the MVZ St. Nikolaus-Stiftshospital. This shows how public funds can be used to establish innovative solutions in health care.
experienced team for high -quality patient care
The team in the telemedical center consists of experienced cardiologists, including Dr. Christoph Schittek and Dr. Christina Bim, as well as two specialized medical assistants. These specialists work closely with the patient's general practitioners to ensure holistic care. The telemedicine application ensures that only patients who were previously treated in hospital are cared for by telemedically, which increases the quality of the treatment.
technological progress to improve health
The technology that is used in "Herz.GeSund" comes from the start-up Qurasoft, which already developed the "Saniq" platform in 2017. This enables vital data - such as blood pressure and weight - to be recorded and to transmit them to the treating doctors for further evaluation. Tobias Hastenteufel, Managing Director of Qurasoft, explains: "The patient receives a blood pressure monitor, a finger ECG and a scale that he has to use every day. The doctor can react immediately if irregularities are determined."
An important step into the future of health care
The project "Herz.GESund" is a prime example of the interface between technology and health care. The interlinking of medical specialist knowledge and digital innovation has the potential to significantly increase the quality of life of patients. As Pascal Badziong aptly says: "The good cooperation between medical expertise and digital know-how has contributed to the fact that the app has made its way into regular care."
FAZIT
With the introduction of the first telemedical center in Andernach, a pioneering role in the field of telemedical care in the region is taken over. The synergetic effect of funding and the commitment of local specialists promises to shape the cardiological care of the future and at the same time make an important contribution to the nationwide health care.
