control measures for the prevention of drug drives
On Monday, August 5, 2024, there were reinforced police controls on Autobahn 3, in the Heiligenroth/Montabaur area. These measures carried out by the forces of the Montabaur police motorway station have the goal of preventing trips under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
findings during controls
Between 11:40 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. a total of three drivers were stopped. Two of the drivers were 30 years old, while another driver was 45 years old. It was found in these people that they may have been under the influence of THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis and amphetamine. In this context, it was decided to prohibit them from continuing. They were also taken from blood samples to determine the exact substance values.
meaning of the control actions
These controls are of great importance for traffic safety. Driving under the influence of drugs not only endangers the driver himself, but also other road users. Through preventive measures like this, the police are trying to avoid accidents and create a safe driving environment. The investigation and the administrative offense procedures initiated should also set an example that drug trips are taken seriously.
social relevance
The increase in drug trips is a growing problem in our society. While in recent years there has been a constant change in the dangers of alcohol at the wheel, the topic of drugs in road traffic is often little discussed. The regular checks not only act preventively, but also point out the dangers that the consumption of drugs brings when driving. These preventive measures help to raise awareness of this important topic and to increase traffic safety as a whole.
