Political speculation about visiting Orban in the Kremlin

After the surprising visit by Viktor Orban in Kiev, in which he asked Ukraine to consider a fire break in the conflict with Russia, the rumor mill is now bubbling over a possible visit to the Hungarian Prime Minister in Moscow

Speculation was heated when Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk asked the question on one platform: "Are the rumors about their visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Viktor Orban?" Various media had previously reported on a potential visit to Orban in the Russian capital.

A spokesman for the Hungarian Prime Minister confirmed that Orban is currently in Schuscha in Bergkarabach to take part in a meeting of the Turk population countries. The Kremlin did not want to comment on the topic for the time being.

The EU Presidency is currently in the hands of Hungary. EU Council President Charles Michel did not explicitly commented on speculation, but emphasized that the rotating EU presidency was not authorized to lead negotiations with Russia on behalf of the EU.

Orban met Ukrainian President Selenskyj in Kiev on Tuesday and asked him to consider a break in conflict with Russia. So far, however, there are no negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

The political developments in this region remain exciting, and it remains to be seen how relationships between Hungary, Ukraine and Russia will develop.
