Young talent at customs: 31 young talents start in Braunschweig

On a special day at the main customs office in Braunschweig, a total of 31 new youngsters were welcomed on September 1, 2024. The proud director of HZA, Ms. Regine Andreas, invited the new E foremry to the new elite entrants, supported by their parents and relatives. This marked the beginning of an exciting chapter in the careers of these young talents. "You can now take your life on your own and actively help shape - a new phase of life begins," said Andreas full of enthusiasm to the prospective customs officers.

The training of the 8 young people in the upscale and 23 in the middle customs service is standardized and offers a combination of theoretical and practical experience. While dual training in the upper service lasts over three years, the practical and theoretical training for the middle departments extends over two years. The specialist lessons take place at educational centers, whereby the students are accommodated in their practical work at various subject areas of the main customs office and in the subordinate departments.

The tasks of customs are extremely diverse and essential for the German economy. Responsible tasks include tax collection, financial control undeclared work, the examination service and the customs investigation. In these areas, the new trainees and students are working to find the most efficient and effective solutions to protect the state and the citizens.
