Financial crisis in Offenbach: treasurer Martin Wilhelm on budget planning 2025
investment of 100 million euros for all -day expansion in Offenbach
Offenbach is currently working intensively on the establishment of the household 2025, and the challenges are enormous for the city treasurer Martin Wilhelm (SPD). It was found that fewer residents live in both Offenbach and in other cities, which affects the municipal financial equalization.
The current forecasts indicate that Offenbach will have to expect a deficit of around 38 million euros in the coming years, mainly due to an estimated loss of 14 million euros in trade tax revenue. At the same time, there are high investments, especially in the field of education.
In order to enable all -day care to be expanded at primary schools, the city of Offenbach plans investments of 100 million euros, of which only five million euros are available as funding. The rest of the costs must be borne by the city itself.
This investment represents an enormous financial burden, especially because the decision to be made all -day care for the federal and state governments was made without adequately taken into account the financial support. The city could be forced to increase the property tax rate to cover the additional expenses.
The upcoming challenges clearly show how important sustainable financial planning and adequate resource allocation are for municipalities. The citizens of Offenbach hope that the city administration will find a sustainable solution to ensure financial stability.
