Safe school path: Burghaiger primary school receives new zebra crossing

The Burghaiger primary school in Kulmbach faces a significant innovation that will significantly improve the safety of school children. In the past few months, a major concern has been implemented from the citizens: the establishment of a secure pedestrian crossing, which will be designed as a zebra crossing. This measure was considered urgently necessary after numerous residents of the community pointed out the potential dangers in the area of the school.

Mayor Ingo Lehmann expressed his joy about the upcoming project: "There will be a zebra crossing on time at the start of the new school year. We are happy to meet the wish on site and ensure more security of our school children in this area." The initiative for the zebra crossing reflects the parents and residents' wish, which demanded a safe crossing of the street for the children in front of the school.

preparation and progress of the construction work

Currently, the construction work is already in full swing. The old asphalt layer, which was previously in the area of the future pedestrian crossing, has already been removed. In the next step, a new paved surface is applied. Mayor Lehmann and the team of the city's civil engineering department and the building yard have convinced themselves on site that the work progresses well.

The marking of the zebra crossing is planned for the coming week, and the appropriate lighting facilities are installed by Bayernwerk AG. Ingo Lehmann mentioned that the city invests a total of around 30,000 euros in the security measures. This financial investment is considered important to make the way to school safer for the children.

A recently carried out traffic count showed that the prerequisites for setting up a pedestrian crossing are met at this point. Sven Dillinger from the municipal civil engineering department added: "The new secure overwhelming is set up at the northern end of the school property." This is a measure that not only meets the needs of the school children, but also the requirements of a modern transport infrastructure.

additional measures for traffic safety

In addition, the municipal building yard will plan to build an approximately 50-meter-long sidewalk at the Rosen-/Schulstraße junction in the next few weeks. This expansion is intended to ensure that the students from the astern path as well as the tulip and climbing paths can get freely and safely to cross the pedestrian. These measures illustrate how important the city administration is the safety of the youngest road users.

The construction work is not only a step towards more security, but also a sign of the commitment of the city of Kulmbach, to deal with the needs of its citizens. The coming weeks will be decisive to complete the new zebra crossing and the associated street infrastructures in good time before the start of school, which is of great importance for the Burghaig students.
