Leather leaves in Leer: Refurbishment needs - engineer suggests new building!
Leer, Deutschland - The leather bridge in Leer has just undergone a special test and the first results are alarming! The bridge on the important B70 could be released again on Tuesday evening, but the civil engineer Pascal Menkel reports on a worrying state: "The condition has become worse in the expected framework". While the bridge is not directly in danger of collapse, it turns out that the steel beams over 70 years old are rusted heavily and are significantly impaired in their load -bearing capacity.
The examiners have rated the condition with the worrying grade 3.5, which urgently requires a new building. The ravages of time have gnawed at the old support structures, and the progressive rust leaves no doubt that the highest hurry is required. Menkel explains that “swelling” of the cross struts and the rusty concrete slabs indicate the dramatic expiry image. In contrast to abrupt collapsing, such as recently in Dresden, there is a certain degree of warning from the regular exams at the leather bridge. The situation remains tense, while a new building urgently needs to be considered to ensure security. Further information on the details of the bridge there is on www.nwzonline.de .
